The 2011 British Open was held at Essex University on 20-21st August, and attracted players from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and Norway. The Open division was won by favourite Markus Kallstrom (SWE), the Womens division by Sophie Southgate (UK), Masters division by Marco LeHousse (BEL), Amateur division by Quarry Park regular, James Luton (UK) and the Grandmaster division by Quarry Park's Derek Robins. The British Open was also part of the first PDGA Global Disc Golf Tournament whereby players in 14 tournaments across the world competed against each other for a global prizemoney payout. Derek had the 3rd highest rating in the GM division, averaging 989 over 3 rounds, and earned an extra $90 on top of the prize money from the British Open.
