Dan Ryan held off a strong challenge from local legend Derek Robins to win the biggest UK tournament of the year and take home £260. His 4 round total of 212 was 10 under par and 2 clear of Derek Robins. A field of 83 players smashed previous attendance records for a BDGA tour event, and a payout of £675 was also a record. Most importantly of all though, it was a huge amount of fun and ran very smmothly in perfect weather.
Prizes were awarded in 7 divisions, with our very own Sian Lee taking the Womens title. The Masters division for 40 and overs was won by Jonnie Morris, who thus also won the BDGA Masters Tour title. The top Advanced Amateur was Nick George, while Sam George (no relation) won the Intermediate Amateur division.
The Recreational division had quite a few players making their tournament debut, and none of them could match local player Iain McNidder who averaged under 70 over the 4 rounds of 18 holes and won by 13 shots. The Junior divisionwas won by Tomasz Novak who came charging through in the final round with an impressive 57 and is certainly one to watch for the future.
Big thanks to tournament director Neil Webber; Gary, Sian and James for catering; Andrew for course maps and general assistance, Andy for helping out on many fronts and many others too.
