Quarry Park had 3 winners at the BDGA Annual Awards and Dinner, held on October 17th. Derek Robins collected the trophy for winning the 2009 BDGA Tour. Martin Smith was recognised as the most improved player on the tour, by virtue of improving his player rating by over 50 points during the year. The BDGA membership voted for Duncan Hartshorne to collect the trophy for the "Funniest Moment" in recognition of his impressive face-slide at Burnlaw - you can ask him to explain!!

World Champions Visit UK
Wednesday, 16 September 2009 20:42

Three of the best players in the World were in the UK at the start of September, and a strong contingent of QP players travelled to London to play with them at the Croydon Cyclone. For the first round, Adam Storr was drawn in the same group as reigning World Champion Avery Jenkins, and even beat him on one hole! Derek Robins had a great first round to lead the British challenge, and was just one shot behind Avery and 2 behind Nate Doss (World Champion in 2005 and 2007) In fact Derek briefly led Avery at the half way point of the 2nd round. Normal order was then restored as the Americans powered ahead. Martin Smith stole some of the limelight when he scored his first ever hole in one, and with it an "Ace Pot" of £56. In the final 9, Derek held his nerve to play some great golf and shot the same as Nate and Avery. Results are posted here. Jon Lee has some great pics here.

Success in Dorset
Monday, 03 August 2009 20:30

Derek Robins returned to winning ways in the 7th BDGA Tour event at Whitcombe Farm Beaminster. Matt Cutler lead by 1 going into the 9 hole final, but Derek found his best form to shoot 4 birdie 2's in the first 6 holes, and then held on to a 3 shot lead. Of the nine Quarry Park players who made the trip, Duncan Butcher and Martin Smith had the most to be pleased about, by finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Intermediate Amateur division. Next stop is Croydon in September.
