Quarry Park Open Results
Monday, 08 June 2009 08:31

43 players took the plunge to play in rainy conditions at the 15th Quarry Park Open. Concentration and consistency would be key, and Neil "Bruce" Webber displayed those qualities to take the Open title ahead of Derek Robins. Jester Wilson pipped Jonny Morris for 3rd place. Jed Farrell won the Amateur division confortably from James Luton and Neal Pickett. There was a strong showing by Quarry Park regulars in the Intermediate Amateur division where Duncan Butcher, Martin Smith and Richard Hatton took 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Many thanks to Jesse and Louise Denny, and Sue and Ivan for making the event run so smoothly.

Advance warning that the course will be reserved for tournament play on the weekend of 11-12th July, when we have the 31st British Open, which is part of the PDGA European Tour. Reigning British Open and European, Ville Piippo from Finland will be one of many top international players taking part. Spectators are welcome for the finals on the Sunday afternoon.

Club Nights on Wednesday
Tuesday, 31 March 2009 21:22

Now that the clocks have changed we will meet every Wednesday evening for "Club Night". We will mix some coaching with some play. Everyone is welcome, you don't have to have an annual membership. At this stage, given the lack of daylight, you should aim to arrive between 6.00 and 6.30 p.m. We will probably go for a drink afterwards.

QP regulars Dunc Hartshorne, Jesse Denny, Richard Hatton and Derek Robins made the road/ferry trip to The Hague for the first PDGA European Tour event of the year. Derek Robins was in great form and won the Masters (40+) Division and ‚¬215. His total for the first 2 rounds would have placed him in the lead in the Open Division. Richards highlight was scoring birdies each round on hole 15. Duncan's highlight was some outrageous luck on the roulette table on the overnight ferry. Sweden's Markus Kallstrom took the Open title and Britain's Charlie Mead won the Grandmaster Division. There were 86 players in all, from 11 countries. Full results.
