Opening hours are: - From 10.00 to 18.00 on weekends throughout the year. From 18.00 to sunset on weekdays until school summer holidays when we will open from 10.00 every day Course is closed for public play during the British Open on 11-12th July. Visitor Questions:
How much does it cost? Do I need to bring a disc? Is there a group discount? Do I need to book? What Facilities do you have on site? What refreshments are available? What ages are suitable? What should I wear? How long does it take to play? How long are the holes? Are complete beginners welcome? Will someone show us how it's done?
How much does it cost? £5 for adults for up to 18 holes or £8 for whole day. Children and full time students pay £3 for round and £5 for the day. There's no reduction for playing fewer holes.
Do I need to bring a disc? No, the green fee includes use of one disc per person.
Is there a group discount? No, but where possible I do try to deliver a bit more, in terms of introduction and coaching
Do I need to book? We have not yet got to the stage of booking tee-times. If by chance the first hole is busy, then it's easy enough to start on a different hole. If you have a large group of say 10 or more, it's good to let me know, just in case several large groups all pick the same time to arrive. I will also know to have sufficient discs ready to borrow. If you need an introduction to the sport and you are arriving at an off-peak time, then drop me a line so that I can ensure someone is on hand to help.
What Facilities do you have on site? There is: - a Pro Shop with hundreds of discs in stock, as well as bags and other accessories; a field shelter which has approx 6m by 4m of cover; a chemical loo with wash hand basin; picnic benches; plastic chairs
What refreshments are available? We sell water, cans of soft drink, and some confectionary.
For what age range is it suitable? At the lower end of the spectrum, attention spans vary, but as a rough guide I would say 8 and up. At the other end, the world championships has a division for people aged 70 and over.
What should I wear? The setting is more countryside than croquet lawn. In the winter months I would suggest walking boots or even wellies. At other times of year, trainers may be fine, but it depends on recent weather and which holes you play. The 5th hole is squidgey at the best of times. Trees and shrubs are the main obstacles, and you may have to venture into bushes, so delicate or white clothing may not be wise. Venture off the fairway and you can find nettles, so socks or trousers can help.
How long does it take to play? A group of 4 adults of average ability should take a bit over 2 hours to play 18. It can take considerably longer if the group is large and/or people lose discs. If you are new, then I would advise playing the top 9 (holes 1 to 4 and 14 to 18) for starters, and see how you go. If you want more then play 6 to 9, and if you are feeling intrepid try 10 to 13.
How long are the holes? From the regular tees the holes are mostly 70m to 90m long. From the competition tees, they are 70m to 107m long.
Are complete beginners welcome? Yes certainly! This is a new sport for most people, so we expect most people to be beginners.
Will someone show us how it's done? Yes, the course is staffed at most popular times, and whoever is on hand will be happy to show you the basics. If you are visiting for the first time, drop me an e-mail or call the number below, and we'll try and make sure that someone is ready to help when you arrive.
