The 2021 British Open on 16-17th October is nearly upon us. You can see the list of registered players and results on the PDGA event page Play on the black layout starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. We are not inviting the general public to spectate these rounds as you need to be very familiar with the black layout and alert to where players are and where they may throw, in order to avoid being in danger or holding up play. On Sunday morning the 3rd round starts at 9:00 a.m.on the 22 hole Championship layout which utilises 4 new holes on the new field, hence there will be no public play on Sunday. Caddy books for Saturday and Sunday show individual hole designs. The 9 hole Open division final is scheduled to start at 2pm and the public are welcome to spectate. Other divisional finals will hopefully start earlier, whilst allowing finalists a 1 hour lunch break from the end of round 3. The Pro divisions payout is estimated at £700.
Disc golf has seen record growth around the world in recent times, and Quarry Park is no exception. That has led to increasing congestion and erosion as the short course layout uses the same land as the long course. From 25th September, the old short course will be no more, as the baskets are relocated to the new short course. Prices are also increasing as we now need to account for VAT. This will give us greater capacity for visitors, and the booking system has been revised to offer separate tee times for short course bookings and long course bookings.
As Autumn approaches, we have 2 big weekend events to look forward to. The Quarry Park Masters on 25/26th September has quickly established itself as the premier event for players aged 40 and over, and was sold out months ago. See https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/51697 for registrations and results.
On October 16-17th we are honoured to host the 42nd British Open. Registration is expected to open on the first weekend in September, and registrations and results will then be visible on https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/54193 This will be the first tournament to use the new Championship layout incorporating some long holes where the big arms can show their distance throwing skills. We will also have more parking space available for spectators on the Sunday.

It may be foolish to place to much belief on weather forecasts more than a few days ahead, but it does look like we have a pretty settled spell of warm and mostly dry weather running right through to the weekend of the tournament. Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to invite spectators due to the general restriction of no more than 30 people gathering together outdoors. The first round of the tournament will start at 10:00 Saturday morning.
Quarry Park Open registration will open again at 7pm tonight. You can't fill the form in until 7pm tonight!!
The Google form is here Priority to men 900+ rated, women 800+ rated, QP members 850+ rated who did not compete in the QP Amateur tournament on May 16th. You can still apply if you don't meet those criteria, but you will have to wait until Thursday to find out if you are accepted or on a wait list. People who match the criteria will most likely be accepted tomorrow. It depends on level of response, there are around 20 places, and I want to give at least 26 hours for people to apply.
