Quarry Park Open 2022

The 2023 Quarry Park Open was held on 8-9th July

2014 was a great year for Disc Golf at Quarry Park and for the sport in general, in the UK and around the world. 2015 will be even better. I am hoping that we will finally get the go-ahead to replace the current buildings with a proper clubhouse. The planning application was withdrawn in December in order to make revisions, but will be resubmitted in January.
The 2015 Quarry Park Open will be held on 3-4th October, and we will also look to host a couple of one-day tournaments. The British Disc Golf Association calendar and event invites can be found

It was a beautiful warm weekend for the 20th Quarry Park Open on 20-21st September. 76 players came from far and wide, making this the biggest BDGA Tour event ever.. All 4 rounds were played on the challenging "Black Course" layout. The Open division was hotly contested, tournament director Neil Webber got off to a flying start with a 55 in the morning round, but was overhauled by Si Luard and Derek Robins who both shot 54 in the afternoon. On Sunday morning, Derek and Simon had lacklustre rounds allowing reigning QP and BDGA Tour champion Dan Ryan edged his way back into contention.

We ask that visitors book a tee-time at quarrypark.app
Whilst not essential, this does help in many ways:
1. You have the reassurance that the course is not closed for an event and you won't be turned away due to it being super-busy
2. Bookings smooth the flow of visitors, thus reducing congestion at potentially busy times
3. By taking payment in advance, we save time processing payments at the course.
4. There's typically only 1 member of staff on duty and if no bookings are registered they may lock the shop and be out working on the course
We are flexible with bookings in that we can refund if you have to cancel or if one of your party drops out. You can also pay for an extra person at the course. We are not strict with tee times, so you can usually start earlier if you arrive early, or later if you arrive late.

We now have a phone dedicated for course usage. We, the staff,  just have to get used to putting it in our pocket when we open up, and leaving it on the counter when we leave. The number is 07939 657635.

In total we had an impressive turnout of 61 players taking part in the 2014 Chilly Chuck at QP on 22/23 February. The Open division champion is Chris O'Brien who won by 3 shots from Derek Robins and Dan Ryan. The Amateur Division Champion is QP's own Gary O'Malley, who won after a play-off with Neal Clifton. The Intermediate Amateur title went to Nick Blakehill.
Conditions were very testing with high winds and slippery ground. Players came from far and wide, including Cornwall and Scotland, but the furthest travelled were 4 friends of mine who came from the Bergen club in Norway. Big thanks to Bruce for being Tournament Director
. The full results are posted on the PDGA website.
